Wicked-Messengers

Wicked-Messengers are a blues/rock band based in Leicester, UK. Starting in late 2008, the band's original lineup featured Nik R in the position of guitarist, but after the drummer failed to show enough commitment to the band, a reshuffle was in order which left Nik R on the drums and the addition of friend of the band Nick P into the guitarist slot. Starting off with a couple of cover songs, the band quickly developed a strong rapport with each other, both musically and socially, and began to discover their own unique style.
The band then moved on to writing their own material, starting often with guitar riffs and chord structures by Nick P, then working the rest of the song around them. And so the first full song was unleashed, and still features in their sets today, 'No God Has a Rifle.' The song outlines the horrific events that have been and still are to some extent happening in Ireland. The next songs to be pulled out of the Messengers' musical hat were 'Won't Stay Down' and 'Get Off My Back.' With the latter directed towards mutual dislikes of the band, with lyrics joint composed by the whole outfit.
Then came the song which never really stuck with one name, going through such aliases as 'Track Seven,' 'Hold My Silence,' and most commonly heard 'The Ballad of Ted Whiskey.' The song was composed entirely by Nick P and adapted by Joe for the vocal performance and evolved into a whole band performance rather than a simple acoustic track. The track originally destined to be the title track of an upcoming EP or album, 'The Wanted' was the next song to be written, rounding off the band's set list for the first few gigs. After The Wanted came The Greater Good, an epic piece outlining the horrors of war and the propaganda and manipulation of the masses by the governments and generals throughout the world. This truly moving piece now ends the Messenger's set.
